Rumours about Ranveer Singh headlining a big screen adaptation of The Immortals of Meluha recently grabbed attention online, with several reports claiming that the actor had acquired the rights to the bestselling novel. The reports further suggested that Ranveer was planning to turn the story into a lavish trilogy and would portray Lord Shiva in the films.
The speculation quickly created excitement among fans of both the actor and the book series, especially since the novel has often been viewed as one of the most cinematic mythological fantasies written in recent times. Reports even hinted that the ambitious project could go on floors in 2028.
However, author Amish Tripathi has now put an end to the ongoing chatter. Reacting to the claims, the writer clarified that the adaptation rights for the Shiva Trilogy are still with him and that no agreement has been signed with anyone.
Addressing the rumours to Variety India, Amish denied the said reports and said, “The rights for the Shiva Trilogy are with me. And nothing has been signed with anyone as yet. Of course, I have huge respect for Ranveer, and am a big fan of his. But this news is not true.”

Over the years, several filmmakers and studios have shown interest in adapting the Shiva Trilogy for the screen, but none of the plans have materialised so far. Despite repeated speculation around possible casting and production developments, the project has remained stuck in the discussion stage.
For the unversed, The Immortals of Meluha marked the beginning of Amish Tripathi’s widely celebrated Shiva Trilogy when it released in 2010. The novel reimagines Lord Shiva as a mortal man whose journey gradually transforms him into a legendary figure. The success of the first book led to two sequels, The Secret of the Nagas and The Oath of the Vayuputras, making the trilogy one of the most successful mythological fiction franchises in India.
