Confirmed: Shilpa Shetty to make a comeback in Bollywood after 13 years with Nikamma!

Bollywood diva Shilpa Shetty has been absent from the silver screens for 13 years; even though she kept her appearances on TV by judging a few reality-dance competitions, fans have missed her a lot. Last seen in Apne opposite Sunny Deol in 2007, she kept making cameos in movies like Dostana and Om Shanti Om. 

Since the past few days, many speculations stated that Shilpa might make a comeback with Janhvi Kapoor-Kartik Aaryan starrer Dostana 2 or Diljit Dosanjh-Yami Gautam’s untiled project. But now the actress herself declared her first project after her 13 years sabbatical. She will be seen in Nikamma, an action-thriller that stars Mard Ko Dard Nahi Hota actor Abhimanyu Dassani and YouTube sensation Shirley Setia. As per recent reports she will be an integral part of the movie.

Talking about it to The Times of India, the 44-year-old actress voiced her excitement on working on such a project. Stating the project is refreshing and unique, Shilpa said, “It feels great. I am ready to take the plunge again. It’s a refreshing and unique project, and I am looking forward to working with Sabbir. I loved my role as it’s something that I have never attempted before. I can’t wait for the audience to see me in a new avatar.”

The actor took to her official social media handle to announce the end of her sabbatical. She wrote, “Yesssssssss, it’s true! My sabbatical of 13 long years comes to an end.. I am so excited to announce that the film you will see me next in is #Nikamma, directed by @sabbir24x7 (cast still being finalised) featuring these amazing and talented actors @abhimanyud @shirleysetia @sonypicturesin. Need all your blessings and Thank you for all the love always.”

Even Director Sabbir Khan, who launched Tiger Shroff and Kriti Sanon in Heropanti, opened up about the actress working on his project. He said, “Shilpa is a much-loved name in every household and she was very clear right at the onset that her comeback would have to be with a worthy role. It’s a dynamic part and I am glad to be working with Shilpa and bringing her back for the fans that miss her.”

Nikamma is slated to release on summer of 2020.
