Confirmed: Rajkumar Hirani scraps down Munna Bhai Chale Amrika

Director Rajkumar Hirani's films like Munna Bhai MBBS and Lage Raho Munna Bhai were hits at the box office. In fact Lage Raho Munna Bhai was such a hit that it was made tax free in many cities including Mumbai and Delhi. Considering the success of the previous two parts of the film, audiences surely expected a third installment in the series!

The makers had released a trailer of the film in 2010 which was liked by the viewers thus further making them to look ahead for the film.

As per reports, Hirani was working on the third part of the film which was titled Munna Bhai Chale Amrika, though it couldn't be completed due to several reasons. Thus, it is now said to be scrapped. With Sanjay Dutt being imprisoned it got difficult for the team to complete the film. As such, it was uncertain whether the film would be ever made.

Reports also suggest that though Munna Bhai Chale Amrika is being scrapped, a third part of the Munna Bhai franchise will be made and the makers are currently working on it.

Rajkumar Hirani was also quoted saying, "Munnabhai Chale America isn't happening. We couldn't develop a script for it further. We have scrapped it. We are working on a new script for the third part. Abhijat and I have few ideas. We have discussed it and hopefully we shall be ready with it." [sic]

On being further asked about the topic of the sequel, he said "Yes. I have 3-4 subjects in mind. We shall develop it soon. For now we are working on Sanjay Dutt biopic. But Munnabhai third part will surely happen." [sic]

Well, fans now now heave a sigh of relief as they have been eagerly waiting for the third part of the film.
