Actress Mahima Makwana's return to television in the form of Shubharambh is now on-air as the show debuted its first episode today. And while we are talking about debuts, the show will mark the debut of an actress in the world of Hindi television.
Dipna Patel, who made a huge impact on her role in the Gujarati blockbuster film, Gujjubhai The Great is all set to debut with Shubharambh, where she will be seen playing the role of Darshana Reshammiya, a dark-skinned girl, and her struggles because of society’s stereotyped notions of beauty.
For Patel, this certainly is comfort zone as the premise of Shubharambh is set in a Gujarati household and Patel is a Gujarati herself. In an interview with Bombay Times, Patel said that she is glad that she is starting her TV journey with this role because she feels a lot of women in India will relate to her character. She even added on how the role demands long makeup sessions but in the end its totally worth it.
She mentioned how doing Gujarati shows is different from doing Hindi shows, especially the long shooting schedules and frequent changes in script in a Hindi show can get quite challenging. She concluded saying she hopes her character resonates with the viewers.
