Chunky Panday 'Literally Cried' After Daughter Ananya won the Filmfare Award: I was Overjoyed

Ananya Panday has grabbed eyeballs from all over India as she grabbed the Filmfare Award for the best debutante in Student of the Year 2. With just two films old, the young actress has been rocking the industry with her impressive performance with Pati Patni Aur Woh as well. 

Ananya shocked the audience after receiving The Black Lady on Saturday in Assam but her actor father, actor Chunky Panday couldn’t make it to the event. 

In a career span of more than three decades, Chunky has never won a Filmfare award. However, he seems overwhelmed by Ananya’s win in 2020. In a recent conversation with SpotboyE, he revealed his contentment and said, “I was overjoyed.”

In 34 years of my career, I have had 4 nominations for films like Tezaab, Aankhen, Housefull and Apna Sapna Money Money but I've never won a Filmfare award. So when Aaanya was nominated I was overjoyed. And last night, when she won it, I literally started crying. I had tears in my eyes because I just couldn't believe it. Obviously she deserved it. It's the most coveted award in the country. The sad part is I couldn't attend the award ceremony because I had committed for an event in December and that time, the Filmfare dates were not finalized. So I could not bow out of my commitments. My wife was there and I was with her through the phone. I'm so proud of my daughter.

He also revealed his wife Bhavna and daughter Ananya’s reaction after the winner was announced. Chunky said: 

I saw a little clip of Bhavna just hugging Ananya and giving her a solid kiss. She was also too excited. You know I have never won that award but my daughter, she had been practicing it since she was young. She used to go in front of the mirror and practice that she's won the Filmfare. And now, the award has finally come to my house.

Chunky further added that he wasn’t 100% sure about Ananya winning the Black Lady and also revealed that he was worried about the same. He also mentioned regretting his absence and not being a part of her special victory. 

Even on her first day of shooting, I wasn't there as I was shooting for a Marathi film at the time. I was not there on her big occasions and now on the first day of her award too, I couldn’t make it.

Ananya seemed to be on top of the world after holding the award. She took to her Instagram Handle and shared a few pictures of her; she even thanked her family and her close ones flaunting the black lady in her hands.
