On December 15 afternoon, violence erupted in the area surrounding Jamia Millia Islamia University in New Delhi against the protesters of Citizenship Amendment Bill (CAB). The students of the college were on a protest but the case was handled poorly, rather brutally by Delhi Police as they resorted to Lathi charge and firing of teargas shells.
More than 50 people were reported injured after which teachers and students gathered up at the Delhi Police Headquarters to demand withdrawal of police brutality. However, the damage was already done and a mob set fire to public buses and damaged parked vehicles. Students also revealed that Police entered the college premises and even hostels, girls hostels too and some even accused Police of harassing female students.
