Canada to Pull Out Financial Assistance From Harry & Meghan Markle’s Security!

Prince Harry (Oops Harry!) and Meghan Markle announced earlier this year they would be stepping back from their royal duties and would work to become financially independent.  Post their announcement, the couple has received mixed reactions.

The couple has been in Canada for the most part of the year after briefly returning to the UK in January following an extended six-week Christmas break on Vancouver Island. Speaking of the security that is being provided by the Canadian government, The (former) Duke and Duchess of Sussex are being assisted by Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) since November 2019 intermittently. It is not clear whether this will continue after they formally step down as royals on 31st March.

"The RCMP has been engaged with officials in the UK from the very beginning regarding security considerations. As the Duke and Duchess are currently recognized as Internationally Protected Persons, Canada has an obligation to provide security assistance on an as needed basis," said, Canada's federal Public Safety Minister Bill Blair.

Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau had faced repeated questions over who would be paying to provide security for the Prince and his wife Meghan. "The assistance will cease in the coming weeks, in keeping with their change in status," according to the statement from public safety.

Meanwhile the supporters list of Meghan and Prince Harry’s decision has one more name to add. Former football star David Beckham has voiced support for Prince Harry who is starting his new life with Meghan Markle after quitting his royal duties. In an Interview on TV show Today, David  commended him for being a "great father" and expressed hope that the Prince is fine and dealing with the situation well.
