Bridgerton producer Shonda Rhimes hints at 3rd season as season 2 premieres

Season 2 of Bridgerton is now streaming on Netflix, and as we prepare to watch Jonathan Bailey alias Anthony Bridgerton's romance unfold, the show's producer Shonda Rhimes is indeed teasing us with clues about Season 3. Rhimes discussed who will be the focus of the upcoming season after the show was contracted for two additional seasons.

Bridgerton is premised on Julia Quinn's popular books, and while the first two seasons pursued the timeline of events, Shonda Rhimes tickled that the third season might switch it up and that while the tale will be focused on another Bridgerton sibling, it won't exactly be in the identical sequence as the novels in an interview with Entertainment Tonight.

Throwing light on the same, she said,

"There are eight Bridgerton siblings, so we're planning on following each one of the siblings' romantic stories. We're not necessarily going in order but we are going to be seeing each of the siblings and their stories." 

The third book in novelist Julia Quinn's book series, An Offer from A Gentleman, recounts Benedict Bridgerton's romance. Benedict is performed by Luke Thompson in the show. Given the filmmaker's recent indication about switching things up, the third season might instead center on Penelope Featherington and Colin Bridgerton's love story, which is still the focus of the fourth novel.

Jonathan Bailey will reprise his role as Anthony Bridgerton in the second season, with Nicola Coughlan, who will continue her roles as Penelope Feathering, Phoebe Dynevor, and Daphne Bridgerton, among others.

The 2nd season of the much-anticipated show is now streaming and promises to have lots of twists, drama, and romance.
