'Breaking Bad' Gets Ripped Off By An Egyptian Drama; Show Receives Flak!

I am not in danger. I am the danger...

Arguably the greatest show of all time? That's an easy answer. Breaking Bad. Even 6 years after going off-air and over 11 years later it's broadcast, several continue to claim how Breaking Bad still continues to be the prime choice for critics and audience alike. And when something as iconic as such a show is created, it is easy to have rip-offs and copycats, isn't it?

Well. That is what one show is currently under fire for and that is what this is about. An Egyptian drama called Weld El-Ghalaba is currently being aired on pan Arab channel, MBC and as it is on-air, viewers have been pointing out the many similarities between the plotline and scenes. That, amazingly to an extent is how some scenes are apparently ripped off straight away from Breaking Bad and too obvious to be missed.

The Egyptian series — which translates as Son of the Poor in English follows an Egyptian man who lives on the border of the poverty line and decides to earn an honest living by having two jobs: one as a teacher at a public school during the day, and one as a taxi driver in the evening. Yet, through his struggle to make ends meet, he falls into the pit of the drug trade.

Really? Can it be more obvious? The similarity to of this show to Breaking Bad is pretty much spelled out in the crux of the above-mentioned plotline.
