Boss: Baap Of Special Services is perfect for your weekend binge-watch session. If you’re a member of Karan Singh Grover fan club, DO NOT MISS this one. If it was a movie, it would have received whistles and claps for the sheer cinematic joy and entertaining shots

Boss: Baap Of Special Services

Ekta Kapoor has been entertaining the audience for a long time. Be it a show or a movie, Ekta has been on point when it comes to presenting something new every time. While she was riding high on success with her shows and flicks, she went one step ahead and launched an OTT platform, ALT Balaji to entertain the audience more.

ALT Balaji is one of the fastest growing OTT platforms in India and after successful web series’ like Apharan, Karrle Tu Bhi Mohabbat, The Test Case, Kehne Ko Humsafar Hain and others, she is back with yet another entertaining series Boss: Baap Of Special Services.

Featuring Karan Singh Grover and Sagarika Ghatge in lead roles, the series revolves around Sudhir Kohli (Karan Singh Grover) an undercover cop who is a specialist in solving homicide cases or cases where criminals often go undetected.

In each episode, there is a new mystery which has to be unfolded to unravel another mystery. The mission is to find a mysterious balloon man in the northern belt of India and he does it with the help of special Police task force led by Sakshi Ranjan (Sagarika Ghatge).

Plot:

The series starts with an interesting incident where Gaurav Gera’s character walks into a bank and speaks to the manager about the security system and suddenly we witness some masked men hijacking the place at gunpoints and demanding money.

Gaurav’s character smartly calls his ‘Boss’ to come save him and next thing we see is that a suave handsome man enters the place and heroically saves the day with his wit and kickass punches. The man introduces himself as Sudhir Kohli (Karan Singh Grover). Meanwhile, to stop the increasing crime rate, a special task force (STF) has been created by the police which consists of five talented officers, Aasif Malik (Ayaz Khan), Janardhan Bisht, Suhasini Iyer, Sudhir Kohli, and the team is led by ACP Sakshi Ranjan (Sagarika Ghatge).

While the team solves some mysterious murders and crimes, Sudhir Kohli is on his own personal mission. Along the journey we also get to know that Sudhir Kohli is not his real identity and he has borrowed it by killing the real Sudhir Kohli to find a mysterious criminal that he has been looking for. Who is this mysterious man, Who is he looking for, and What is his motive is what the series is all about.

Performances:

Karan Singh Grover as the mysterious man who claims to be Sudhir Kohli is an absolute treat to watch. His irresistible charm and flamboyant persona fits the bill perfectly and his act is definitely the crowd puller.

Whereas, Sagarika Ghatge is a miscast for the role as her dead expressions and lack of aggression made her character dull in the series. She is playing a cop in the narrative, but neither does she sound authoritative nor does she shows any aggression in her performance. However, both Karan and Sagarika make for a handsome pair.

Other supporting actors like Gaurav Gera and Ayaz Khan have done a commendable job. Gaurav breaking out of his typecasted image of a comedian and playing a layered character is the best thing to watch.

Screenplay and Direction:

The writing is tight and the screenplay is engaging. It is a masala potboiler action-thriller series, and such content demands entertaining lines, kickass punches, and romance along with a strong plotline, and the series is a perfect package. It is not a brainless entertainer and has its victorious moments.

Set Design & Background Score:

The series has been shot in the scenic locales of Shimla and Manali hence has some really beautiful shots, but the background score is the highlight of the series. The title song is so good and catchy, it adds the extra dosage of entertainment and masala in the series.

Boss: Baap Of Special Services is perfect for your weekend binge-watch session. If you’re a member of Karan Singh Grover fan club, DO NOT MISS this one. If it was a movie, it would have received whistles and claps for the sheer cinematic joy and entertaining shots.
