Bollywood Singers, TV Title Tracks

BollyCurry has compiled a list of such shows, so read on to see which of those beautiful tracks you've been humming has been sung by a Bollywood prodigy.

It is probably a safe bet that Tellywood has always drawn its inspirations from Bollywood, making the big screen's influence much greater than we can imagine.  It has now become a common sight to witness cameos of prominent Bollywood actors on serials, as well as, the use of popular Bollywood songs as a background for the evolution of relationships. Even the title and title tracks of shows sometimes hint at Bollywood influences.

Did you know that the playback singers for the title tracks of a number of serials are well-known in Bollywood? No wonder the vocals behind the hauntingly beautiful or fun and peppy opening tracks sound so familiar. Opening titles often set the tone and situation of the shows; therefore they are an integral part of the serial. BollyCurry has compiled a list of such shows, so read on to see which of those beautiful tracks you've been humming has been sung by a Bollywood prodigy.

Jassi Jaisii Koi Nahin

Jassi Jaisi Koi Nahin had a fun opening number with one of Bollywood's legends Shantanu Mukherjee (Shaan) lending his vocals as Jassi (Mona Singh) was shown going through her day. The track is soothingly sweet and it suits the story line of the show. Fun and catchy, this is one of the most memorable title tracks.

Kasautii Zindagi Kii

Babul Supriyo and Priya Bhattarcharya, two of Bollywood's veteran singers, sang the romantic opening to Kasuatii Zindagi Kii, the show which shot Shweta Tiwari and Cezzane Khan to fame as Prerna and Anurag Basu. The title track had a lilting melody and beautiful lyrics that depicted the eternal love between the couple, even as they separated.

Dill Mill Gayye

The much loved medical drama Dill Mill Gayye opened with a track by Sonu Niigam, the dynamic singing prodigy of Bollywood. The focus was on the interns - showing their personalities and highlighting the budding friendship and relationships between them all. The piece aptly depicted the show, with its catchy lyrics and rhythm.

Navya...Naye Dhadkan Naye Sawaal

Bollywood's Shilpa Rao had set a trend in Tellywood when she won the Best Singer award at the Indian Television Academy Awards for "Bekaboo", the opening track for Navya... Naye Dhadkan Naye Sawaal. The track is simple and yet graceful as the set the pace for the beautiful serial that ensued.

Saraswatichandra

Most recently, Shreya Ghoshal and Javed Ali, two of Bollywood's leading singers, collaborated with Sanjay Leela Bhansali on the title track for Bhansali's hit drama serial Saraswatichandra. The only on-going serial on the list, many would agree that humming the beautiful title piece is an everyday occurrence.

Clearly, the two mediums (Bollywood and Tellywood) are sharing an envy worthy relationship because they both bring out the best in each other, as they share their resources.
