Early half of the year marked a very bad opening for Bollywood. Not to forget, the producers also had a two month long tiff regarding revenue between the multiplex owners. If buzz has it right, it is said that Bollywood faced about a loss of Rs. 3 billion.

However that dry er

a ended with Kabir Khan's 'New York' which released on June 26th. 'New York' starring John Abraham, Katrina Kaif and Neil Nitin Mukesh was much appreciated by the audience, giving Bollywood something positive to look at. After New York's tremendous opening, 'Kambakkht Ishq', 'Love Aaj Kal' and 'Kaminey' followed the same route as 'New York' giving the hindi film fraternity a profit rounded to half of this year's loss.  It is said that the four hit films have put together a business of Rs. 1.5 billion.

The industry definitely believes that Bollywood is on the route to success again and recovering from the dry era.  However, in the end it comes down to content filmmakers are ready to give to the audience.  The perfect example would be a small budget film like 'A Wednesday' which did exceptionally well at the box office compared to big budget films like 'Luck.'

To add on, the film-critics also had to say that the producer-multiplex strike also prevented Bollywood's big releases from releasing which also contributed to Rs. 3 billion loss.

However with four hit films in the bag, Bollywood is now gearing for many of the much-awaited films projected to release some time soon. The list includes the Shahid-Rani starrer 'Dil Bole Hadippa', 'Wanted', 'Main aur Mrs Khaana', 'London Dreams', 'Ajab Prem Ki  Ghazab Kahani' and '3 Idiots'. Not to forget, 'Kites', 'What's Your Rashee?', 'Pa', 'De Dana Dan', 'Hook Ya Crook' and many more.

Will these releases make up for Bollywood Rs. 3 billion loss? Do you believe that Bollywood lacks content?
