Bollywood celebrities mourn the death of Hollywood actor Sidney Poitier

Sidney Poitier, the legendary Hollywood actor, died at the age of 94, leaving an unavoidable void in the Hollywood industry. Poitier, best known for his contributions to film, was the first Black man to win the Academy Award for Best Actor. 

To this, Bollywood celebrities are taking turns on social media to pay tribute to Sidney Poitier as they mourn his death. Anil Kapoor took to Twitter to share a rare throwback photo of himself with the actor. "Sidney Poitier, my childhood idol, lifelong inspiration & star of some of my favourite films... Forever your fan & admirer… Rest In Peace.”

Anupam Kher paid tribute to Poitier with a photo from their 2013 meeting, writing, "I had the honour of meeting the legendary actor #SidneyPoitier in early 2013. He was gentle, compassionate and generous with his time for me. We talked about Indian cinema. He was especially happy to know that I had an acting school. I was over the moon when he said that he would like to visit it one day. He was a fantastic actor, a remarkable person and had a great aura around him! Dia Mirza posted a photo of the late actor to her Instagram story, describing him as a "star, icon, and legend."
