Birthday gift: Dharmendra takes Hema on a holiday abroad

Mumbai, Oct 23 (IANS) Dream Girl Hema Malini's own dream to go on a holiday with husband Dharmendra is finally coming true.

'I'll be going on a holiday abroad with Dharamji. That's my long-due birthday gift. We would've been gone for my birthday. But some work came up, so we had to postpone it. But we're definitely going,' Hema, who turned 59 Oct 16, told IANS.

Does the promised vacation make this birthday happier than others?

'Oh certainly!' exulted Hema. 'But I must say to his credit that Dharamji makes it a point to be here for all my birthdays. He was here this time too. Our two daughters were also with us. Fortunately, Esha wasn't shooting out of town this time. What more could I ask for?'

The family organised a small private party to celebrate Hema's birthday.

'They threw a party, only for very close friends and family. I'm a very private person. I like to be with just the people I'm comfortable with. Maybe that's why I come across as standoffish to people who don't know me. I'm not snobbish, I'm shy.'

In her unguarded moments Hema talks about the lack of time with her life-companion.

'But I've no regrets. I look at the positive side. Whenever Dharamji has time, he spends it with us. He has other responsibilities and I shouldn't complain. And he's a very good father.'

The couple has worked together in many hits like 'Sholay', 'Seeta Aur Geeta', 'Raja Jani', 'Naya Zamana' and 'Dreamgirl'. Their last film together was 'Razia Sultan'.
