'Birdman' shown at Star Movies Secret Screening

Mumbai, Jan 28 (IANS) Oscar-nominated film "Birdman", which is co-written, produced and directed by Alejandro Gonzalez Inarritu, was showcased at the 4th edition of Star Movies Secret Screening.

Prevalent in the west, Secret Screenings is a closed door movie screening concept that gives the participants a rare opportunity to watch a film before its actual release.

Star Movies Secret Screening initiative gives its audience access to unseen films combined with one of a kind unforgettable experiences, said a statement.

The screening took place more than a week before the film's release at Phoneix mall, here Jan 21.

The critically acclaimed movie has received nine nominations at the 87th Academy Awards including Best Picture, Sound Editing, Sound Mixing, Original Screenplay, Cinematography, Best Director.

The movie stars best actor contender Michael Keaton as Riggan Thompson. Emma Stone and Ed Norton, who are both nominated for best supporting actor, can also be seen in pivotal roles.

The film will hit Indian theatres Jan 30.

Previous films that have been a part of the secret screenings are 2014 released "The Maze Runner" and "Gone Girl".
