Bhuvan Bam lives up to his name; delivers a hilarious yet engaging tale with 'Dhindora'

The prime reason being it is indeed the first time where an out-and-out series has been made out of characters that were created by and a part of multiple sketch videos on the video-sharing platform.

Dhindora

In many ways, YouTuber and singer Bhuvan Bam has already created history with Dhindora. The prime reason being it is indeed the first time where an out-and-out series has been made out of characters that were created by and a part of multiple sketch videos on the video-sharing platform.

It was a smart idea but it was always a wondering as to how successfully can that happen - With Dhindora - Bhuvan Bam has taken a brave step and having seen a couple of episodes, here's what I thought of it.

The Plot

Dhindora 1

If you have been an ardent watcher of Bhuvan Bam videos, you will immediately feel at home and not need any summary to jump in; but if you haven't, it is still easy to do so. Bam plays multiple characters just like in his sketches - plays Bhuvan himself, plays Bhuvan's father, and mother, plays Bhuvan's Masterji, Sameer Fuddi, Banchoddas, Mr. Hola and as we will see ahead - Titu Mama as well. It is a normal day in the life of the family but plot kicks up towards the end of the first episode where Bhuvan's father learns that his salary has been deducted but at the same time, he also wins lottery. How will this lottery win and other things bring in changes in Bhuvan and other characters' lives is what Dhindora is all about.

The Good

Dhindora 2

It is Bhuvan Bam after all. The actor-singer makes sure the ardent fans of his channel are not disappointed. While the series is indeed a continuous storyline, Bam makes sure to incorporate his sketch style in the first episode itself when he is in the classroom with Masterji, Banchoddas and Sameer on video call. It is smart to cater to your usual fans and make sure they are satisfied while attracting new ones as well.

Dhindora 3

The cameos are something that is an instant attraction as well. Literally in the first few seconds of the first episode, we see Anup Soni, who is famous for hosting Crime Patrol as he is doing the same here on a TV set, we see the kid named Dev Raj Patel who became viral for the video 'dil se bura lagta hai bhai', we see another famous YouTuber Chotte Miyan playing a baba and many more. This keeps things interesting almost constantly plus has the digital viewers feeling how amazing it is to everyone in one frame in one form or another.

Dhindora 5

What is one of the best parts of Dhindora is that in no way is the story compromised here. While, comedy, sketch-style and fan service is important, Bam along with Hussain Dalal and Vivek Dalal, who have penned the screenplay, make sure that the story stays consistent and maintains a nice flow as well. As a viewer, you are genuinely intrigued to know what will happen next.

For the Bhuvan Bam fans, it is a pleasant surprise to see the upgrade in production with the show. Bam is known for his one-man and phone camera videos but he has made sure to treat Dhindora as a legit show which comes through. The special effects is also extremely amazing when multiple versions of Bam are present in the same frame.

The Not-So-Good

Dhindora 6

The only minor flaw I can point out - and that is just nitpicking is the writing of some jokes and a little use on stereotypes. Some jokes don't really land as would have intended but even then, this isn't something you don't watch the show for.

The Verdict

Even if you are not a Bhuvan Bam fan or haven't seen anything from him earlier, you will still enjoy Dhindora as a standalone show; and if you are a Bhuvan Bam fan, you are in for an absolute treat.
