Bhumika Gurung on dating restaurateur Shekhar Malhotra: I am just hoping that it all goes well

Bhumika Gurung, who made headlines recently for her relationship with restaurateur Shekhar Malhotra, recently got talking to us about work, her relationship, and more. Shekhar, also happens to be Mahhi Vij's cousin and Bhumika and him have known each other for a while. The actress gained immense popularity post her role of Nimki in Nimki Mukhiya, and continues to be loved for the same.

Here is our exclusive conversation with the actress.

Did you have any apprehensions about getting back to work? Did you have any apprehensions about getting back to work?

No apprehensions about getting back to work because I really wanted to get on a set but yes I had thoughts on my mind that I want to be safe and take care of my health but I was glad to have got back. There was no thought process but only the fact that how good is the show's story and I got that and this is my second show as a lead. I was so sure because of the story and because the character was written so well. So I believed in the makers. 

Have you come to feel that comedy is one of your strongest suits?

I can say that comedy is actually my forte because I feel that people after seeing me do that see that I am really good at that but I am good at negative role also, and I can also play someone who is very 'bholi Bhali si' and am actually a mixture of everything that. My last show really helped me a lot.

What would you say are some stereotypes around TV and women that you'd like to break?

I think I would really like to break the whole image thing of television actors as to how once you do a positive role, you don't get accepted by the audience and you can't do a modern role or that you can't do anything but play the television Bahu because she has to be someone who is made to be shy and I think I would like to break all the stereotypes around that. 

What kind of roles are you looking to explore?

I am looking to explore something very different that I have not done in the past and Nimki was something very different in terms of something that you have seen on television and Tara's role in h=Humkadam is also a different role for me because it is contrasting and I am doing something which I have never done.

It was difficult for me to move on and trust him, but as they say, when the right one comes along, you just know when to go for it and that's what happened with me in this relationship.

Tell us about how did your relationship with Shekhar Malhotra happen. 

We weren’t friends but just knew each other and we started talking to each other around November 2020 and got along really well! In no time, we started dating.

What's it like in this relationship, and how do you keep up given you have had a difficult breakup? 

It was difficult for me to move on and trust him, but as they say, when the right one comes along, you just know when to go for it and that's what happened with me in this relationship. I am a very headstrong girl and a self-made woman, and that is what made me muster up the courage to move on and try my luck in love again. 

I am super happy right now and I am in a very happy space and I am peaceful and I think that is what matters the most. I am just hoping that it all goes well and we stick together through thick and thin. The past relationship and the person will always be respected, we do talk on and off when we have work with each other because we have a lot of respect for each other, but sometimes when things don't work out and experience I had, it was best for us to part ways and not get our hearts broken. I did not want to be in a relationship that was breaking every day and it was breaking me down emotionally. So after 7 years, the time came when I gave up and I moved on. So I think it is a very good thing that I thought about myself for the first time and I am with someone who respects me, loves me, and takes care of me, and respects my family. It's the best thing that happened to me.
