Ever since the trailer of Taapsee Pannu and Bhumi Pednekar starrer Saand Ki Aankh was released critics and the audiences have been eagerly waiting for the release of the film. Based on the real-life story of Prakashi Tomar and Chandro Tomar – India’s oldest women sharpshooters, the movie traces their journey and showcases the hurdles they faced in life to become successful.

Not only were the actresses lauded for their makeover, as grandmother’s in their 60s, but they also faced a lot of criticism due to the same reason. Many netizens wondered why seniors actresses like Neena Gupta, Shabana Azmi or Jaya Bachchan were not cast for the older versions of Chandro and Prakashi. It also led to a debate on Bollywood casting age-appropriate actors for older characters on Twitter.

During a recent promotional spree, when Taapsee was asked about the same, she said, Ek kam karti hoon main acting karna chhod deti hoon (I will do one thing, I will stop acting), and only play characters of my age and girls from Delhi. We are actors, so should we stop acting?

“As an actor, I will sometimes play characters of different ages. We should stop being camera actors, I think. I know it’s not an easy visual, as these women pick up guns at the age of 60, and the film showcases their story from half of their current ages.”
