Bhumi Opens Up on Supporting girls Rescued from Prostitution, Socially Backward & Underprivileged Children

Bhumi Pednekar has been supporting Abhyudaya Ashram, home and school for abandoned, socially backward and underprivileged children, including girls rescued from prostitution for nearly 3 years now. The talented actress learnt about the good work of the ashram when she was filming Sonchiriya. Bhumi has been backing the Ashram so that they can constantly expand their scope of work and has been constantly funding new initiatives for the children housed there. 

Bhumi has now collaborated with Anshula Kapoor’s breakthrough online fundraising platform, Fankind, in a bid to further support Abhyudaya. Bhumi will be virtually meeting some fans for a unique hangout session titled ‘Chai Pe Charcha’. Funds raised through this activity will entirely go to the ashram so that new projects can be initiated by them.

The talented young star shares,

I have been associated with Abhyudaya Ashram since early 2018. It came into my life while shooting for Sonchiriya. The little girl in film who played Sonchiriya, was cast from the ashram. And since then, I’ve been working closely with them towards uplifting the institution in every way possible.

Bhumi adds,

I have been doing my best to support the ashram and generate as much awareness and funds as possible because it will help these lovely, talented kids. With this activity, I expect to raise funds so that it can directly benefit the ashram. It’s a special activity in which my fans can join hands with me to help these kids who are destined to have a bright future with our support.

The Morena-based school was established in 1992 to fight the prostitution of girls in the valley and has expanded into housing boys too. The school looks to open up job opportunities for the children thus empowering them and also providing a better future to them.

Anshula says,

This is going to be one of the most special activities that Fankind has done so far. Chai Pe Charcha has been designed for Bhumi’s committed fans to do social good. It’s an activity that is close to Bhumi’s heart and she informed us about her brilliant work with the ashram. The fact that Fankind, as a platform, can support the ashram too means a lot to us. Bhumi’s fans will have the opportunity to donate to the ashram during the course of this activity and contribute to the upliftment of the kids housed at Abhyudaya.
