Television is a tricky world and while on one hand, there is an array of shows that keep going on and running for umpteen years, on the other hand - some shows are extremely short-lived and go off-air as a shock.

Lately, there have been shows that have gone off-air in 2-3 months, even one month on one instance. Belonging to the former category is Star Plus' Rudrakaal as the show that launched barely a couple of months ago has gone off-air. The show has a stellar cast led by Bhanu Uday and the crime thriller was a biweekly show airing on weekends. But it is being pulled off the tube now.

Uday, who played the titular role in the show opened up on the same in an interview with ETimes TV. He said, “The show started airing in March and by mid-April, restrictions were imposed in Maharashtra due to the second wave of COVID-19. While most TV shows relocated outside Maharashtra to continue shooting, we could not do that. Our show was mainly shot outdoors and was filled with action scenes. That meant shooting at different locations. That was one of the reasons why we stopped shooting after the 10th episode. And soon, the makers decided to pull the plug on the show.”

He mentioned that he isn't disappointed with it, “My job is to give my best. I can't think of how it will be received by audiences. But I do feel that Rudrakaal was more suited for a web audience than for a TV audience. If it continued, I am sure people would have enjoyed watching it on their phones. Also, since OTT has become another interesting medium, many shows are divided into two categories - web and television viewership. This show was a great learning experience for me. I got to perform high octane action scenes, which aren’t that common on the small screen.”

He concluded saying, “Our show had a good storyline and I was lucky to bag it. That’s all I can say. I don’t want to get into why it could not connect with viewers. As actors, we can only give our best and leave the rest to destiny.”
