With a week passing by in our Best-Of series, things are about to get a lot darker now. Oh, we are just talking about how the negative characters in some shows that not only turned out to be nightmares for the other characters in that respective show but also for the viewers who were left startled by their villainous act.

In a time, where vamps dominate almost all the daily soaps, these 5 male villains managed to wow us with their performances-

Ayush Anand as Ranveer and Aditya in Ishqbaaaz and Tu Sooraj Main Saanjh Piyaji

It is great to begin with an exception and actor Ayush Anand certainly deserves it as he is on the list not only for one but two mega shows. Even though Ayush has been a part of Ishqbaaaz since past year, his cunning act as Ranveer continued in 2017 till we saw some positive changes in him. However, just when the viewers thought that they have seen it all, he made a roaring entry in yet another popular Star Plus show, Tu Sooraj Main Saanjh Piyaji. Currently playing the spoilt and cruel brat Aditya in the show, Ayush has managed to live up to his villainous act with perfect conviction.

Rahul Dev as Kaali Thakur in Dil Boley Oberoi

There cannot be a better treat than watching a Bollywood veteran coming on TV and doing what he/she does best. Witnessing actor, Rahul Dev make his fiction comeback to TV with Ishqbaaaz' spin-off, Dil Boley Oberoi was one of the biggest reasons in itself to watch the show. While, Dil Boley Oberoi had a tumultuous time in terms of ratings, Rahul Dev continued to prove his excellence as a performer where he played the womanizer, barbaric and vicious Kaali Thakur in the show.

Rahil Azam as Jayant Dhanrajgir aka JD in Tu Aashiqui

There couldn't have been a better comeback for seasoned actor, Rahil Azam on the small screen. With a repertoire that includes performances in shows like Haatim, Resham Dankh and Gulaal among others, it has been an imbroglio that you may feel absolutely awed by his performance as JD in Colors' Tu Aashiqui. As the heartless, devious, selfish and manipulative JD, Rahil proved that time doesn't change or lessen the importance of true talent.

Vikkas Manaktala as Veer in Ghulaam

There are always instances when a particular character, especially if it's negative, takes some time to build up over a few episodes in a TV show. But that wasn't' the case with Vikkas Manaktala as Veer in the Life Ok thriller, Ghulaam. Veer was probably as brutal as anyone can imagine to be and his cruelty was chilling for the viewers time and again. Also of course, how can we forget the mind-boggling transformation Vikkas went through for this character and boy it did reflect on-screen.

Piyush Sahdev as Samay/Rajeev in Beyhadh

Talk about setting benchmark in terms of acting prowess and actor, Piyush Sahdev will not be forgotten. In a show, where Jennifer Winget was the absolute show-stealer as Maya, Piyush as Samar/Rajeev was absolutely fantastic and gave one of the best performances Indian TV has witnessed. From being psychotic to obsessive and scheming to cruel, Samay was a nightmare for Maya and without a doubt, for many viewers too.

Special Mentions

Even though these do not actually qualify for negative characters or villains per se, the characters portrayed by actors, Zayed Khan, Namik Paul and Arjun Bijlani in Haasil, Ek Deewaana Tha and Ishq Mein Marjawan respectively deserve to be mentioned here. With grey shades to their roles and a particular trait that makes them stand-out Ranvir Raichand, Shiv and Deep have also done enough to startle you as a viewer.

It is a step-up in itself, where we see the rise of male villains on Indian TV as compared to last year, where the usual scenario is dominated by vamps on-screen. And what makes things better is that some of these performances are the ones that will be remembered for a long time to come.
