Barot House Review : A Thrilling Murder Mystery With Nail-Biting Performances!

Zee5 is one of the top players in the digital industry, the OTT platform recently launched a number of thrilling and intriguing original series and movies including Kaafir, Bombers, Section 377 among others. Now, the platform has finally released their much-awaited movie, Barot House, a dark and spine-chilling thriller based on true events.

The movie starring Amit Sadh and Manjiri Fadnis in lead roles, is directed by Bugs Bhargava, written by Sanjeev K Jha and produced by Ten Years Younger Productions LLP, Dhirajj Walks of Art Pvt and NewBorn Films LLP.

Plot

The movie is set in the backdrop of Goa and begins with the Barot family celebrating Janmashtami at the mysterious Barot House. The story centers around the happy Barot family, where a husband and wife live with their three daughter and a son along with their grandmother and uncle. Little do they know that their happiness is ephemeral whilst one of their daughters is found dead under mysterious circumstances in a graveyard. It becomes a murder mystery with one murder followed by three more and many suspects. The story takes a turn when the unexpected characters come into the radar of suspicion.

What did we like?

We liked the storyline of the movie, which will definitely hit you hard and make you predict throughout. Any story is not worth without good performances and Amit Sadh, Manjiri Fadnis and Aaryan Menghji are the star performers in the movie. They did justice to their characters, making the film worth watching. The plot is built in such a way which will only increase your interest and keep you hooked.

What we didn’t like?

Apart from the star cast, other characters seemed to be dull - the grandmother looked unnatural and stationary, even after grave things happening around her. The mystery was revealed too early in the movie, the makers could have built some more tension. Background score is the essence of mystery and thrillers and the makers could have made it more intense in accordance with the theme of the movie. 

Verdict

We liked the movie and being a mystery thriller, it makes for a good one-time watch. With some intense performances and a gripping story line, the film will definitely keep the audience engaged.
