The latest Dharma Productions' film that has taken everyone by a storm is the much awaited sequel to the Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania (2014) franchise, Badrinath Ki Dulhania. The lead pair of Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania, Alia Bhatt and Varun Dhawan reprise their role as the protagonists of this film too, accompanied by talented actors such as Gauhar Khan, Mohit Marwah, Shweta Basu Prasad, and Girish Karnad in supporting roles. Much like its predecessor, Badrinath Ki Dulhania has been written and directed by Shashank Khaitan, and we at BollyCurry hope that he's able to create magic with this movie yet again.

The trailer opens with Badrinath Bansal (Dhawan) striking a sheepish grin and introducing himself to the camera, a shot which ends rather comically. We then see Badrinath telling his friend about how he has lost his heart again, but this time, wants to marry the girl. The girl is Vaidehi Tripathi (Bhatt), and like most Bollywood rom-coms go, doesn't fall for his advances immediately and tells him off for pursuing her. Our hero is not one to be deterred, so fret not - he does manage to woo the girl and the two spend some time together in India and Singapore. What happens to their love story is what the movie is all about.

Khaitan's story appears to be a typical formulaic Bollywood love story - boy sees girl and falls head over heels in love with her, girl rejects boy, boy pursues and stalks her till she relents, they share some moments before a problem threatens to ruin their oh-so-magical love story, but everyone reunites by the time the end credits roll. While this may not work against the movie, it is getting rather ridiculous how Bollywood tends to romanticise the act of stalking, because, in reality, there is nothing romantic about the same. Manan Sagar has done a decent job with editing the trailer, it manages to tickle the audience's funny bone and cashes in on Dhawan's impeccable comic timing and Bhatt's natural charm.

The music has been composed by a number of music directors, including Amaal Mallik, Tanishk Bagchi, and Akhil Sachdeva. Given the new trend of remixing (and potentially ruining) songs from the 80s and 90s, Badrinath Ki Dulhania doesn't disappoint and has included a remixed version of "Tamma Tamma" from the 1990 film, Thanedaar. The title track, all set to release on Monday, seems to be extremely catchy from what one can make out, and does leave us excited for the album.

Neha Parti Matiyani has worked on the cinematography of the film, and she has done a wonderful job with capturing the picturesque locales of Rajasthan and Singapore. The trailer boasts of some stunning long and close-up shots, which definitely create the required effect.

While the story of Badrinath Ki Dulhania appears to be rather formulaic, it does work - maybe that is why Bollywood churns out such films. Nevertheless, we at BollyCurry were rather pleased with the trailer, and rate it a 3.5 out of 5 stars.

Badrinath Ki Dulhania releases on the 10th of March, and we encourage you all to mark the date on your calendars and go watch the film in theatres. Till then, stay tuned to Monday, when Dharma Productions' will release the title track on their official YouTube channel - do look out for it!
