'Baa Bahu Aur Baby' fame Sarita Joshi receives the Padma Shri Award; daughter Purbi pens a message

One of the saddest things in the entertainment industry is that some of the finest veterans rarely get the recognition they deserve. Talking about actor Sarita Joshi, who has surpassed a career of over four to five decades has barely gotten any recognition and continues to be very underrated.

Fortunately, she has finally received one of the most prestigious awards in the field of arts there can be - the Padma Shri Award. That's right. Joshi, who continues to be best remembered for her role in the TV show, Baa Bahu Aur Baby was honored with the Padma Shri on 8th November, for her contribution in the field of arts.

The 80-year-old actress received the fourth highest civilian award from the honourable President Mr Ram Nath Kovind.

Proud daughter and actor, Purbi Joshi has shared a beautiful picture and a video of her being awarded along with a long note of appreciation. Along with the post, she wrote, “What a proud moment for the entire family! My mother Sarita Joshi is being honored by the President of India, the honorable Mr. Kovind, with one of the highest civilian awards - the “Padma Shri.””

Expressing her proud feelings for her mother, Purbi added, “Ma your talent, energy and dedication to the craft knows no bounds, as does your love for all of us. To the world outside you’re known as the celebrated legend Sarita Joshi, one of the finest actors and performers our country has produced, with an illustrious career spanning theatre, TV and films. But for me you are the world’s best mother, my constant companion and supporter. You are a true force of nature and a source of inspiration.”

Thanking the veteran actress for being a great mother, she wrote, “Thank you for showing me what a strong woman looks like every day of my life. Thank you for teaching me that above all that glitter is sheer hard work and dedication, that to love yourself and believe in your dreams is your biggest strength,and that you are the only hero you will ever need..”

Purbi concluded the note confessing her love and said, “Today my chest swells with pride and my heart is full of love for my one and only, the leading lady of my life always...My Ma.”-

While her TV and film career started only in the late 80s, she has primarily been a huge part of the theatre world and began working when she was barely seven years old.
