Ayushmann Khurrana recollects a real life incident of caste discrimination from his college days

Ayushmann Khurrana starrer Article 15 is an attempt to cast light on the issue of caste discrimination revolving in the country. The entire team of the film, along with director Anubhav Sinha is leaving no stone unturned to bring this issue in the limelight and talk about acceptance and change. 

Ahead of the release of his film Article 15, Ayushmann recollects a real life incident of caste discrimination from his college days. "I remember, the topper in my class secured a seat in one of the engineering colleges in Chandigarh. 

"That was when my batch mates realised that he belonged to the reserved category. [The revelation] impacted the guy deeply because he did not want his caste to be known; he went into depression. This incident shows that it is deep-rooted in our society, and people develop complexes. We need to treat everybody at par," he said.

The film has faced protests from the Parshuram Sena and Karni Sena who allege that the film shows Brahmins in the bad light. Amidst the controversy, the Badhaai Ho actor is trying his best to launch social media campaigns in an attempt to eliminate caste discrimination. With the online petition of #DontSayBhangi, the actor has managed to create social awareness on public platforms about the issue.

Helmed by Anubhav Sinha, the film also features Isha Talwar, Manoj Pahwa, Sayani Gupta, Kumud Mishra in pivotal roles. The film is set to hit the theatres on June 28.
