Ayushmann Khurrana and Raaj Shandilyaa will come together for the sequel 'Dream Girl 2'

Ayushmann Khurrana's Anek was recently released in the theaters where the film puts focus on the North East and questions the ‘Indian’ identity. The film is Ayushmann’s second collaboration with Anubhav after Article 15.

Now, the Badhai Ho actor is going to return to the genre that has brought him the most success. His biggest successes have been comedies like Badhaai Ho, Shubh Mangal Saavdhan, and Dream Girl, with a sequel in the works for the latter. With Dream Girl 2, Ayushmann is ready to return to humour.

Raaj Shaandilyaa, the director of the extremely popular 2019 film Dream Girl, has started production on the sequel. "I am drafting the story for the film and it may take a little while," Shaandilyaa, who is currently promoting his recent film Janhit Mein Jaari starring Nushrratt Bharuccha, told ETimes.

Dream Girl, which followed Ayushmann's blockbusters Andhadhun and Badhaai Ho, astonished everyone by grossing around Rs 200 crores. The plot revolved around a young male who pretended to be a lady while conversing with men on a dial-a-friend hotline.

Ayushmann Khurrana, the star of the Dream Girl trilogy, recently appeared in Anubhav Sinha's Anek and is presently filming An Action Hero alongside Aanand L Rai, which will be his next release. The Dream Girl sequel will be an out-and-out entertainer with a subtle social message, similar to the original.
