Ayushmann Khurrana: Amitabh Bachchan and I are at Loggerheads

Ayushmann Khurrana will be sharing the screen space with Amitabh Bachchan for the first time in Shoojit Sircar’s Gulabo Sitabo. In a recent interview, the actor talks about his experience of working with Big B, and how they are always arguing in the film.

Speaking to PTI, Ayushmann shared about the film Gulabo Sitabo and his equation with Bachchan in the film:

Gulabo Sitabo is an extremely simple film. It’s a sweet film about the banter between a landlord and a tenant. I’m the tenant, Bachchan sir is the landlord and we are always at loggerheads. It’s as simple as that. The magic is, sometimes you find simplicity most exciting in life and that’s what the film is about.

Directed by Shoojit Sircar, the comedy-drama is produced by Ronnie Lahiri and Sheel Kumar and written by Juhi Chaturvedi. The film, set in Uttar Pradesh, highlights the daily struggles of a man in a humorous tale. 

Talking about his experience of working with Amitabh Bachchan for the first time, Ayushmann says, “Bachchan sir is amazing. What I marvel about him is that he’s so well prepared always. He will know your lines also. It is not easy to act in front of him. You have to be on your toes as a co-actor.”

Ayushmann has carved a niche for himself in the industry with his socially relevant movies and reacting to the same, the actor says he is “full of gratitude” for the work and love coming his way.

“It’s important to know what’s going around. I dwell on relatable subjects. If you are un-approachable with the common folk, then where will you get your fodder from? It becomes difficult but now I do it with an agenda. To look for good stories, “ Ayushmann concludes.

Gulabo Sitabo is scheduled for release on 17 April 2020.
