The recreated version of the hit Delhi 6 track ‘Masakali 2.0’ is receiving a cold response from the viewers. Not just fans, but music maestros like A R Rahman, Prasoon Joshi who were associated with the original song also slammed the remix.

Sung by Sachet Tandon and Tulsi Kumar, with additional lyrics by Tanishk Bagchi, Masakali 2.0 features Marjaavan pair Sidharth Malhotra and Tara Sutaria.

After A R Rahman, Prasoon Joshi, and Delhi 6 director Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra, filmmaker Hansal Mehta has brutally bashed the remix song. In a series of tweets, he expressed his displeasure, calling it a ‘bastardisation of old songs’.

We are complicit in this bastardisation of old songs. It is seen as a small price to pay for getting your film produced. Truth: it is a travesty. It is an insult to the original creator by an ecosystem that thrives on shit. Stop consuming shit. People will stop producing shit

He was referring to the recent release Masakali 2.0 and called it awful and ear-shattering.

Yes. I am reacting to the awful, ear shattering #Masakali version. But check its YouTube views in 48 hrs. Then see how DJs blast it at events. And how people groove to the godawful version. Shit sells. While we cringe, somebody is laughing his way to the bank.

The filmmaker also has the perfect solution to stop remixes. He suggests that if people stop listening to such songs, the makers will stop producing them.

This 'recreation' of old songs can stop if the public rejects them. The numbers on YouTube for godawful versions of old songs are huge and hence music companies keep producing them. Stop viewing the videos. Stop listening to the songs. Stop playing them at events. They will stop.

Someone please shoot Tanishk Bagchi in the face. People like him are ruining Bollywood music. Ruining classic songs that we grew up listening to should be considered a crime!! I'm beyond disgusted!!

I dont understnd hwo there arent copyright rules in india. How are all of these remixes ALLOWED unless they are created by the original people associated with the song?

Why they can't make their own songs instead of insulting old songs? They even insult old Bollywood songs.

I agree it's not great and I am not up for Remixes as well but seriously no need to use language like that it's done because people like remixes...just move on if you don't like it
