Athiya Shetty opens up on her younger brother Ahan Shetty

It has been a great couple of weeks for the Shetty siblings - Athiya Shetty and Ahan Shetty. A few days ago, Ahan Shetty made his Bollywood debut with the film Tadap, that has been performing well at the cinemas as of now. And now, sister Athiya Shettyy is all set to make her OTT debut in a week's time. 

Talking about her brother's debut and how she was nervous about it with ETimes, she said, “I wasn’t as excited and nervous as I was for Ahan. I feel proud of him. Ahan and I don’t share an equation where we exchange tips to each other. We’re just there for each other no matter what. In fact, if anything, I ask his advice for everything. Ahan is my younger brother but he’s always acted like an elder brother with me."

The actor, who made her debut five years ago talked about it as she said, “I don’t remember what happened during the promotions but it felt like such a blur. So much was being told, so much was being passed on. You just forget what you want and who you are. Even though Tara Sutaria has worked in films before, I just think that she’s so well put together from the word go. Her poise and grace are wonderful. I was a nervous wreck. In fact, even my brother knows what he is doing and they are so composed and calmly handling everything. They are both not nervous and holding themselves together fantastically. Those are some of their qualities that I wish I had.”

Tadap was supposed to be coming out in 2020 but got delayed due to the pandemic. Talking about that phase and how her brother handled it, Shetty says, “I think that time was an equaliser everywhere in the world. One moment you were happily baking banana bread and the next moment, you were questioning life decisions and where things are possibly headed. It was a confusing phase. And yet, it was an eye-opener. It taught me how much we need in life and what’s really important. In that phase, I saw Ahan internalising everything and believing that this too shall pass. He is level-headed; he was anxious but he knew there would be a silver lining to the phase. Ahan has immense faith in himself. I have seen that in him since he was a child when he would be in school, participating in sports, or doing anything challenging. He has a lot of self-belief in a good way where he has his back. I am proud of him. He’s vulnerable, strong, honest, and someone who can pull through ups and downs with equal ease. I look up to the person he is and how he treats people.”
