Bollywood celebrities expressed their anger and disbelief on social media over the heinous murder of a two and a half-year-old girl named Twinkle Sharma. Reportedly, the baby girl was brutally murdered in Aligarh after her parents were unable to repay a loan of Rs 10,000.

Sonam Kapoor too poured her heart out and took to social media to express grief and termed this tragedy heartbreaking and urged people to not make this a selfish agenda. She took to Twitter and wrote: “What has happened to baby twinkle is. Heartbreaking and horrific. I pray for her and her family. I also urge people to not make this into a selfish agenda. This is a little girls death, not a reason to spread your hate.”

Reacting to Sonam's Tweet, filmmaker and social activist Ashoke Pandit slammed the actress for being biased. He compared her Tweet on the Asifa Bano Kathua rape case (where 8-year-old Asifa Bano was abducted, raped and murdered) with Twinkle Sharma's murder case.

He tweeted: “Sonama Kapoor On #Asifa U questioned d values of india by tweeting : “I am Hindustan. I am ashamed. 8 years old gang raped & murdered in 'Devi'-sthaan Temple.” And nw on #TwinkleSharma you tweet saying “I urge Ppl to not make ds into a selfish agenda.” Why this disparity ?”

Soon after Pandit posted this, a war of words between him and Sonam started.

In response to his disparity tweet, Sonam gave a befitting reply and Tweeted, “Because I practice Hinduism and I believe in karma.”

To this, Ashok replied: “I hv nt qstnd ur beliefs bt want to knw why dr’s a diffrnce in Ur reaction btwn #Asifa & #Twinkle. Why ds delayed reaction ?Why no playcards? Why nt tkng names of d accused ?Don’t U think al crimes shld b condemned wth same intensity nd similar language. #JusticeForTwinkleSharma.”

To put an end to all this, Sonam finally wrote: “I’m sure you have better things to do then troll me. Hope you find peace and love. Thank you for your opinions, this made my day. Ignorance is truly bliss.”

In response to Sonam's conclusive Tweet, Ashoke Pandit replied to her and wrote: “Raising certain issues can’t be labelled as trolling. I have found my peace & love since I was born. I will keep on questioning selective activism of activists with agendas. Wishing U good luck.”

The Hindustan/ Devi-sthan question was raised because Asifa was a Muslim child who was raped and murdered in a temple... the crime was religiously motivated, which is why the reaction was along the same lines. Twinkle was murdered by a man who her family owed money to, so religion of the victim or criminal doesn’t matter.

Ashoke Pandit is right!!!

There is always this selective outrage!!!

At least someone pointed it out!!!

smh. idk y people r comparing these two cases. Twinkle was murdered due to an argument between a lender and borrower. This could have happened between two hindus, two catholics, and two muslims. However, Asifa was killed due to her religion. She was killed due to her identity. That is a completely different situation. Both of these crimes are horrendous and the criminals should be hanged till death but the motives are different.
