There have been several instances when Bollywood celebrities’ pictures going viral on social media, however, not everyone appreciates the invasion of privacy. Earlier, this year, holiday pictures of the three legendary actors - Asha Parekh, Waheeda Rehman and Helen who are inseparable friends - went viral as they were snapped holidaying in the Andamans.
Senior actor Asha being a very private person was deeply affronted by the violation of their personal space. Talking to SpotboyE about the pictures, she angrily said, “These pictures are from a holiday we took at the end of March in the Andamans just before the lockdown. We thought it was a very private vacation. We just wanted to get out. Relax. We’ve no idea who took the pictures. It was probably some tourists. The place was swarming with vacationers. Aaj kal koi bhi photos le sakta hai bina ijaazat ke(nowadays anyone can click your pictures without your consent).”
Filmmaker Tanujj Garg shared the pictures on his official Twitter handle and wrote, “If Dil Chahta Hai" were to get remade with three grand dames, it would be with these legends - Waheeda Rehman, Asha Parekh, and Helen.
On their return to Mumbai, the yesteryears’ screen queens were shocked when their holiday pictures went viral. Speaking about the same, the Kati Patang actress said, “More than me, Waheeda and Helen were upset. They are far more private people than me. People were sharing the pictures and saying the three of us should star in a sequel to Dil Chahta Hai. Why Dil Chahta Hai?I don’t understand. It was more like Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara.”
Ashaji also feels that the era of social media has robbed public figures of their right to privacy and pointed out, “Anybody can click a selfie with you. Pehle autograph mangte the abb selfie. When you are with your family or close friends such intrusion feels like a violation.”
However, she also admitted having fun at the Andaman islands. Ashaji highlighted, “I went snorkelling with Waheeda for the first time. I had never done this before. Of course, I know how to swim. But I’ve a deep fear of deep waters. Luckily I braved it. The experience of going undersea and swimming with exotic fish is something everyone should try at least once in their lifetime.”
Asha Parekh, Waheeda Rehman, and Helen had ruled many hearts when they used to work and had given many hits. Salman Khan’s second mother was popular for her dance in the 80s. The three actresses share a close bond and are often seen together on many reality shows.
