A.R. Rahman’s ‘99 Songs’

Music maestro A.R. Rahman had recently announced that his film ‘99 Songs’ will soon have a digital release.

The film, a romantic musical, starring two new actors Ehan Bhat and Edilsy Vargas will be available to stream on Netflix from tomorrow, May 21,2021 onwards.

99 Songs had a theatrical release on 16th April, 2021, when cinema theatres were running on 50% occupancy due to Covid-19. Two days after the film’s release, theatres were closed as the second wave of the deadly virus hit the nation.

The Oscar and Grammy Award-winning musician A.R. Rahman has turned producer and writer for 99 Songs, wherein he presents a total of 14 songs wrapped altogether in the film. 

‘99 Songs’ follows the journey of a youngster named Jay, whose life centres around his two great loves: music and his girlfriend Sophie. But when his artistic aspirations get in the way of his relationship, Jay finds himself faced with the toughest test of his life yet. What follows is a journey of heartbreak and redemption, of loss and faith and an ode to the timeless power of love and music.
