Speaking to Tellychakkar, Anushka mentioned that she was quite elated on bagging that show and she could feel the responsibility of playing a freedom fighter. "I was actually supposed to play only until the teenage version of Rani Laxmibai in the show. However, the channel really liked my work and chemistry with Vikkas Manaktala and thus I was asked to carry on with the grown-up character as well. I would look convincingly as a 22-year-old, because of the saree and the entire look," Anushka adds.

She also shared how her grandmother called her mother once and told her that she looks so mature on screen. To this, her mother replied that it's because of the makeup and the saree.

I don't think there should be a barrier on casting irrespective of the age of the actors. If the actors look convincing, then there shouldn't be any issue if age 20 actor plays age 30 character or age 30 actor plays age 20 character. It's upto the production houses who they want to sign and also upto the actors what they want to sign.

I agree. Have age-appropriate cast like seriously! Having 30
+ year olds play characters who are 20+ year old doesn't fit the bill TBH.

This is ridiculous of making kids play adults even in costume dramas. At least in Zee TV version, they brought a grown up actress as adult Lakshmibai.
