Anupam Kher feels may be Zaira Wasim was forced to take the decision of quitting Bollywood

After Raveena Tandon lashed out on Zaira, Anupam Kher has called it a tragedy.

.

Shockwaves were sent across the entire Bollywood industry when Dangal fame Zaira Wasim decided to quit. Her statement where she said that her profession was threatening her relationship with her religion, has triggered a debate. It's just been 24 hours since she has made the announcements and there are celebs from our tinsel town who are reacting to her exit.

In the morning when Raveena Tandon took a jibe at Zaira, Zaira's fans were shocked even more than they were with the news of her exit. Now 64 year old veteran actor Anupam Kher has talked about it to the media and said,"I think it's a tragedy that a 16-17 year old girl has to take a decision like that. I do respect her sentiments, I do respect that it's her individual choice. But as a person, I feel sad that she had to take a decision like this about her flourishing career."

He very clearly called Zaira's decision to quit films a tragedy. He said that even though everyone has the right to make their own choices, this decision doesn't seem like Zaira's own.

He continued saying,"On one hand, we talk about women empowerment and on the other hand we say that it's not like that. Personally, I feel she should not have done that. But she is an independent girl and our country gives everybody the fundamental right to choose what they want to choose. But the fact that she has gone all out to sort of say that I am doing it for religion or something like that... a certain amount of tilt has gone into it. She is most welcome to take her decision. I felt sad when I read that. I felt that somewhere, she had to take that decision. It is not her decision"

It's truly sad that the actress who had such immense potential has taken a decision to end it all but as everyone says, all of us have a right to our own choices.

What has the film industry produced aside from a bunch of hypocrites and classless fools? I remember Anupam Kher criticized Aamir Khan for calling India unsafe when it was his wife Kiran who said so. That was true because India is unsafe and intolerant. So yeah Anupam Kher lost his credibility right then and there. The creator is impartial and fair but this film profession has always been a filthy one and anyone with common sense would understand that this profession takes people away from God. It would eventually turn Zaira into a cheap and classless girl who would then rely on nothing but skin showing and item songs. But all these hypocritical and neo liberal fools can’t handle the truth. So what if she chose God over everything? Why are everyone’s asses on fire? Doesn’t fit your description of so called women empowerment does it? And it’s not like she’s forcing her religion on others. So relax liberal losers. Keep your hypocrisy to yourselves. The best thing is that Zaira is still in school and can now choose a respectable profession such as doctor, lawyer, engineer or she can even start her own business. I wish her all the best!

If she wanted to quit she should have just quit it. Nobody would ask her to give explanation. There are many people who leave a profession as they dont fit into it . That's not a big deal. But there was no need to bring religion into this. Religion is personal. Religion is not meant for advertisement. Its something personal. Her letter itself gives the decision a religious angle. If she had left it saying her personal reasons, nobody would have any problem. If anybody's profession threatens their religion, then the problem lies with the person and not with the religion or profession. Don't blame it on the Creator who is impartial and equal to everyone. The Creator never asks its followers to quit its job for religion.

The definition of women empowerment differs from person to person. No point of discussing it.
Agree with Anupam Kher to some extent. He is one of the actors who has the guts to call a spade a spade.

Btw Zaira if you feel Bollywood is Unislamic and Haraam, then you must return all the money you got from it and also the awards .

Goodluck to her and hopefully we will get a much more better talent who will value the opportunity afterall "Hamare desh me talent ki thodi hi kami hai."

No offense intended.... But the topic itself is highly controversial.

What if this isn't a publicity stunt? What if she truly felt peace in Islam and not in acting? I can't believe all these people criticizing her. What happened to all those feminists who keep crying "women empowerment" all the time? Where is Deepika who kept stressing the fact that women should get to make their own choices? Just because Zaira's choice doesn't match the corrupt liberal mentality they insult her and call it a publicity stunt? Anupam Kher is a big hypocrite and so are most of the actors/actresses.
