Anees Bazmee on superstars like Akshay Kumar & Salman Khan not behaving like one

Director Anees Bazmee has been in the industry for over three decades now where he has worked with the biggest superstars and is now on a roll working with younger talents like Kartik Aaryan and Kiara Advani for Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2.

But having worked with megastars like Salman Khan and Akshay Kumar in films like No Entry and Welcome, he went on to talk about how he feels at utmost ease directing superstars like Kumar, Khan, Ajay Devgn among others. He shares, “All the big stars that I have worked with have always behaved normally on sets instead of acting starry. When you work with them you don’t feel like you are working with superstars. They are very down to earth and friendly people. After all, it all depends on your personal equation with them.”

Bazmee who has directed Salman Khan in No Entry, Ready; Akshay Kumar in Welcome, Singh Is Kinng; Anil Kapoor in Mubarakan, Pagalpanti says that over the years actors have built trust in him. He elaborates saying, “These are the actors who I don’t spend hours together on narrations. They sit for 10 minutes with me, get a basic idea and just give a go ahead. After hearing a few lines they figure the kind of film it is going to be. Also, they know agar Anees hai toh kuch achcha hi kar lega.”

Citing an example, he shares, “I remember when I wanted to narrate Singh Is Kinng to Akshay, he was in the US. He asked me to narrate the story on the phone itself. After listening to it for a few minutes he just green lit the project while on the call. And that is how he came on board.”
