Assam has been hit by horrific floods which have caused distress in the entire country. Along with other prominent personalities, Bollywood celebrities have come forward to do their bit and help the victims.
Veteran actor Amitabh Bachchan donated Rs 51 lakhs to help the victims of Assam floods. He even called out to his fans and followers to come together and help the victims in need.
Assam chief minister took to Twitter and thanked the 76-year-old actor as he wrote: “We appreciate Shri Amitabh Bachchan ji for contributing Rs. 51 lakh to Chief Minister’s Relief Fund. This is a great gesture & show of care for the people. Thank you, on behalf of the people of Assam, for your support. @SrBachchan.”
Sr. Bachchan retweeted the same and urged the people to lend their help to the Assam flood victims. He tweeted, “Assam is in distress .. the floods have caused great damage .. send care and assistance for our brothers and sisters .. contribute generously to the CM Relief Fund .. I just did .. HAVE YOU ..?”

Apart from Amit Ji, other celebs have also shown support and extended a helping hand for the flood relief. Last week, Akshay Kumar donated Rs 2 crore to Assam - he gave Rs 1 crore each to the Assam CM’s Relief Fund and for the rescue of Kaziranga National Park. The Kesari actor too took to his official Twitter handle requesting the people to do their bit for the cause. He wrote, “Absolutely heartbreaking to know about the devastation by floods in Assam. All affected, humans or animals, deserve support in this hour of crisis.I’d like to donate 1cr each to the CM Relief Fund & for Kaziranga Park rescue. Appealing to all to contribute @CMOfficeAssam @kaziranga_”
Priyanka Chopra also tweeted to urge fans to donate for the flood victims. She wrote, "Extremely devasted by all the news coming in from #Assam and other parts of India. It’s heartbreaking to read about the displacement and loss of life. My prayers with those affected (sic)."
The conditions in Assam have worsened and according to the latest reports, the death toll in Bihar and Assam floods has mounted to 174. Around 1.09 crore people have been affected by the calamity in the two states. Reports say over 10 lakh animals have also been affected.
Meanwhile, on the work front, Amitabh Bachchan is currently shooting for Shoojit Sircar’s Gulabo Sitabo with Ayushmann Khurrana in Lucknow. He will also be seen in Brahmastra alongside Ranbir Kapoor, Alia Bhatt, Nagarjuna, and Mouni Roy.
