Spoiler alert! Contains details from Sunday's episode of "American Idol."

And then there were 11.

On Sunday, socially distant and filmed at home remote show, American Idol Top 10 singers who received the most votes from viewers.

But just as host Ryan Seacrest was about to send the other 10 singers packing, the judges chose to use their one-time-only power to save one competitor from elimination.

Makayla Phillips, 17, a Temecula, California, native who previously competed on Season 13 of "America's Got Talent" in 2018 and was eliminated during the semifinals.

"It was difficult," judge Katy Perry said of the decision. "But I think she can give some of the other contestants that are in our Top 10 a run for their money vocally, as long as she is picking the right song that connects with the people that are watching and listening."

Phillips, who was surrounded by her family as the singing competition was taped remotely, was visibly emotional and relieved when she learned she was saved.

"Oh, my God, I'm going to cry right now," Phillips said. "This has been my dream since I was very little, so this means the world and more to me."

Keeping to the episode's theme of "home," Phillips then sang a gentle, low-key rendition of Miranda Lambert's "The House That Built Me," earning praise from all three judges.

"Early in the audition, I heard this amazing voice out of you and I've been really wanting America to hear that, and that's what why we fought for you and saved you," Luke Bryan said. "I'm so glad you came back just to allow America to hear what a great singer you are."

"You're a star, Ms. 17-Year-Old," Lionel Richie added. "Keep working hard, because you're on your way to somewhere in the stars."

Perry, who began the episode dressed as a giant roll of toilet paper, said it was an "intimate" performance, telling Phillips, "I'm glad you know how to pick a song that pulls at people's heartstrings and makes them feel warm and cosy. That's how I felt when you were singing to me."

The Top 7 singers based on America's votes will be revealed in next Sunday's episode.
