ALT Balaji's Class of 2020: A Potpourri of Friendship & Heartbreak!

Vikas Gupta's Class of 2020 which is the sequel to Class of 2017 has managed to grab eyeballs with its fun and drama. The ALT Balaji series which is created and produced by Vikas Gupta’s Lost Productions is a coming of age teenager drama around a bunch of friends. 

The series stars a fresh cast comprising Rohan Mehra, Chetna Pandey, Nibedita Pal in lead roles along with Pallavi Mukherjee, Isha Chawla, Joyeeta Chatterjee, Jatin Suri, Mazhar Khan, Alam Khan, Sushant Tanwar, Abhishek Ranjan amongst others. 

Plot:

The series revolves around a group of teenagers, and the challenges they undertake during their course in De Nobili High School. It starts off by introducing each character which gives the audience a gist about their life-story and personality traits. The story then progresses to introduce their flawed side.

However, at certain places, the representation of teenager ( read: drugs and sex) comes across as stereotypical. Few scenes in the story may seem a little absurd and over the top but the plot and the characters manage to draw you back to the story.

Performance:

Nausheen Ali Sardar as Heena and Rushad Rana as Ronit and Neel’s father have performed the role convincingly and have great screen presence. Sushant Tanwar’s cute and sweet personality with a bit of old school vibe will connect (rather well) with the audience. Swapna Waghmare as Hardik’s grandmother will make you smile with her on-screen presence.

Music:

One thing which stood out in this series is it’s excellent soundtrack. The song Tere Hone Se emits a magical feel and finds a way to connect with the audience. 

Overall, Class of 2020 is a blend of love, hatred, friendship and heartbreak. 

Verdict:

If you're looking for a light-heart watch and love youth comedy dramas, then you could definitely give this a try.
