Alia Bhatt starrer 'Gangubai Kathiawadi' gets a release date

While the official dates of films like Sooryavanshi, Laal Singh Chaddha, Jersey and others were unveiled by the producers, fans were awaiting for the release date of Gangubai Kathiawadi as well.

After a long wait, the makers of Gangubai Kathiawadi has announced the release date of the film.

Alia Bhatt starrer film is set to release on January 6, 2022. 

In the film, Alia is all set to woo everyone with her never seen before avatar in which she is playing the role of madam of the brothel.

Alia plays the titular role of Gangubai, one of the most powerful, loved and respected madams from Kamathipura during the 1960s. 

Shantanu Maheshwari, Vijay Raaz, Indira Tiwari, Seema Pahwa also star in Gangubai Kathiawadi. Ajay Devgn and Emraan Hashmi play extended cameos in the movie.

The film is produced by Sanjay Leela Bhansali and Jayantilal Gada.

The official handle of Bhansali’s production house took to social media and wrote, 

“The wait to witness her power, strength & resilience ends. Bringing to you a stem-winding story of #GangubaiKathiawadi on 6th January 2022, in cinemas near you.”

Recently, speaking about the film, Bhansali told,

 “Gangubai Kathiawadi is a very special film to me. It has not been easy. We made it during the pandemic, and I have given it my all. I can’t wait to share it with everyone.”

Recently, the Maharashtra government announced that the theatres in the state will reopen from 22 nd October. 

Soon after the announcement, the Bollywood actors and producers were quick to share the new releases dates of the films that couldn’t release last year and this year.

Earlier, Alia left everyone stunned with her first look as Gangubai. 

Her fans are eagerly waiting to watch her in a different avatar on the big screen.

Alia is back in Mumbai after a small trip to Jodhpur. The actress along with Ranbir Kapoor were in Jodhpur to celebrate Ranbir's birthday.
