Alia Bhatt made a startling debut with Karan Johar's directorial, Student of the Year where she was seen alongside debutantes, Sidharth Malhotra and Varun Dhawan. The movie went on to be a blockbuster hit with not only money ringing in at the box office but also compliments pouring in from the audience and the critics equally.

Soon after that, there was no looking back for the young diva who went on giving string of hit films like Highway, 2 States and Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania.

However, year 2015 turned out to be a teacher for Alia as she faced the first flop flip of her career then. Her movie Shaandaar, directed by Vikas Bahl, where she was seen alongside Shahid Kapoor tanked badly. The film not only received backlash from the critics but also her fans who criticized her for taking up the project and also faced debacle at the box office. This certainly was a huge blow for the actress who got used to giving hit films.

Now, during a recent interaction with Vogue India, when Alia was asked about her first flop Shaandaar, she stated that she was heartbroken but her dad Mahesh Bhatt was happy. She said that she was heartbroken but her father was thrilled that the film didn't do well and that he was the only one who celebrated.

Alia quoted her dad, "the band-aid had been ripped off" and also stated, "He was the only one who celebrated." Post the failure of Shaandaar, the actress revealed that now she is trying to be cautious of success and is okay with failure.

Talking about her pre-release jitters, Alia told the magazine, "Sometimes, I joke, ‘Why can’t we shoot films and not release them?’ That would be so much fun. Just send them to another planet."

Meanwhile, on the work front, Alia has a series of films in her kitty. She will next be seen in Sadak 2, which marks her first professional collaboration with dad Mahesh Bhatt and sister Pooja Bhatt. The movie also stars Sanjay Dutt and Aditya Roy Kapur as the male leads. Sadak 2 is slated to release on July 10, 2020.

Alia also has Brahmastra which is helmed by Ayan Mukerji. With this film, Alia will be seen opposite her beau and actor Ranbir Kapoor. The first instalment of the trilogy will hit the screens during Summer 2020.
