Alia and Varun get Emotional, Pen Heartfelt notes as Student Of The Year clocks 7 Years

The 2012 film, Student of The Year, marked the debut of three actors- Alia Bhatt, Varun Dhawan, and Sidharth Malhotra, who have turned out to be the superstars of Bollywood. Directed by Karan Johar, the college drama was a box office success, and also marked the first big step for the three young actors. The film not only managed to become one of the highest-grossing movies of 2012 but also led Alia, Varun, and Sidharth to win the best debutant Filmfare award.

As the film completes 7 years today, the cast of the film has shared some snippets from the shooting and expressed their gratitude in heartfelt posts. Student of The Year marked Alia’s debut in the world of movies, and reminiscing back to her first step, the actress shared a video that essays her journey and experience of the film. She also penned a thank you note for the team and the makers of the film.

Alia wrote, “#StudentOfTheYear was the best school, teachers & friends anyone can wish for. Thank you for a magical start #7YearsOfStudentOfTheYear @karanjohar @apoorvamehta18 @DharmaMovies @Varun_dvn @SidMalhotra #SOTY.”

Besides, Alia, her co-star and dear friend, Varun too took to his social media to share a video, expressing his gratitude towards his first film, along with a thank you message for his co-stars, cast, team, and the fans. “#7yearsofsoty a life changing movie for me thank u to everyone who worked on this and thank u @karanjohar @apoorvamehta18 @SidMalhotra @aliaa08 and all the fans involved in making this film so loved”, wrote Varun.

Their mentor and director, Karan Johar penned a long heartfelt note as the film clocks 7 years today. Sharing a video from the film, he wrote, “7 years ago I made a film and a family.....a family I can proudly call my own.... I look back at SOTY with abundant love in my heart...thank you @aliaabhatt for being my daughter ...for your infectious love and your large heart..for just being YOU! thank you @varundvn for being there for me always ...for having my back and calling me at odd hours to tell me what “not to do”...for your pure heart...I love you! Thank you @sidmalhotra for your compassion and sensitivity for also being the silent strong energy in my life....for giving me a shoulder whenever I needed a good cry! Love you! While firsts are always special and the actors made an impressive debut with Student of The Year, all the three stars have gone on to make a mark for themselves and are on the list of bankable actors. 

Varun will be next seen alongside Sara Ali Khan in Coolie No 1, and Sidharth is all set for his upcoming film, Marjaavaan with Tara Sutaria and Riteish Deshmukh. On the other hand, Alia is currently shooting for Sadak 2 with Mahesh Bhatt, and will also be seen alongside Ranbir Kapoor in Brahmastra.
