Akshay Mhatre replaces Ruslaan Mumtaz as the lead in 'Maharaja Agrasen'

Big shows with big bames and big plans are being planned for a while now and one from that list is Maharaja Agrasen. For a while now, the show has been in the talks and while it is sealed and confirmed that actor Shrenu Parikh will play the female lead in the show, there was a lot of conjecture over the male lead.

Earlier, reports suggested that actor Ruslaan Mumtaz, who was last seen in Yeh Rishtey Hai Pyaar Ke is the one who has been roped in to play the male lead. But that isn't true, as another latest report says that not Mumtaaz but actor Akshay Mhatre has been roped in to play the male lead.

Mhatre is best known for his role in Piyaa Albela and later in IndiaWaali Maa. 

The shoot of the show is set to begin soon in Jaipur and Mhatre is expected to fly today to join the cast and crew. 

About the show, it is being said that while the show's title seems to give an impression, it is being treated differently as that is a working title. It is said to be a show with a progressive storyline and will have a mix of everything.

On his end, when Mumtaaz was asked about not doing the show, he said, “I hadn’t been approached directly for this show. However, I can’t take up a TV show at the moment. I am currently shooting for a film, so my dates are not available till August 15. I can’t take up any other project, simultaneously.”
