Ajay Devgn is preparing for what could be his busiest year yet. AJ kicks off the year by shooting the official remake of Kaithi. According to sources, the film will begin production in January with a marathon schedule. Contrary to popular belief, he will not be directing this action-thriller. Come February, you'll be able to see him make his digital debut with Rudra: The Age Of Darkness.
The Hotstar original is expected to be one of the most popular series on the digital platform, and the team behind the Rajesh Mapuskar-directed film is aiming for a late February/early March premiere. He is expected to begin filming for another film this summer, the details of which are being kept under wraps for the time being. "Aside from the shoot schedules, Summer is significant for Ajay because of the release of his directorial, RunWay 34." It's set to open on Eid 2022 (April 29), and massive promotional plans are in the works for this big screen edge-of-your-seat drama. It's a special film for Ajay because he's directing the legendary Amitabh Bachchan for the first time, and according to insiders, the audience will be taken aback by the scale of RunWay 34," the source says, adding that everyone is looking forward to this thriller.
Apart from the aforementioned three films, Ajay will appear in a cameo in SS Rajamouli's RRR, followed by a powerful performance in Sanjay Leela Bhansali's Gangubai Kathiawadi. The buzz is that he has a commanding presence in Gangubai, and the way Bhansali has presented AJ will astound everyone. "Run Way 34 will be followed in June by the release of Maidaan." According to the source, "the inside reports on this film are currently extremely positive, with everyone who has seen rushes going gaga over not only Devgn's performance, but also the content and storytelling template."
He followed it up with Thank God, directed by Indra Kumar and starring Sidharth Malhotra and Rakul Preet Singh. Contrary to popular belief, AJ will appear in this slice-of-life comedy for an extended period of time. "He wraps up the year with the much-anticipated Singham 3 with Rohit Shetty." The source concludes, "It's expected to go on floors in the second half of 2022, in preparation for a 2023 release in theatres." Aside from the aforementioned films, Ajay Devgn will be making two major announcements in the coming months, with both films set to begin production this year. For the time being, the specifics are being kept under wraps.
The actor was last seen in Tanhaji: The Unsung Warrior, which released on January 10, 2020, and it is still the highest grossing film in Hindi cinema over the last two years. When it was released, it grossed Rs 270 crore at the domestic box office.
