Recently Shah Rukh Khan was detained at US Airport and now Shabana Azmi, who was there for a film's shoot. The veteran actress landed at Chicago O'hare International airport; as soon as she arrived the security personnel asked her the reason for her visit to US.
She replied, "I very innocently said I had come for shooting. The immigration officer was shocked. 'Whom have you come to shoot?' he asked me.. His shock was palpable. I calmed him down and corrected myself, 'I'm filming. Only slightly relieved he said 'Why did you say shooting?' he scolded me. I told him it's a cultural thing. Really, are we actors supposed to stop saying we're shooting merely because the word has alarming connotations?
After explaining that the immigration officer let her pass through! Good security or uninformed security? What should we call it?
P.S: The film for which the 'Chalk N Duster' actress is shooting is titled, Signature Moves!

Honestly, the security personnel did ask her questions first and then let her through! It's not his fault... People from all over the world come to USA... Is he supposed know and understand every country's culture and language? He is human too... Malikah Shabana was not victimized, not by any means

She is not at fault coz the flights are too exhausting and really what comes out comes out. Happens to me all the time, but thankfully I'm just attending conferences and not "shooting"

Yes if a word has alarming connotations you should think twice before using it in sensitive situations... Don't you know that Madam Azmi? In American English they say filming not shooting, so the officer was alarmed Now USA is supposed to change their culture for your convenience?

Victim - really? I don't get it. Everyone who enters another country may be asked general purpose of visit and if someone responds that I am here to "shoot" will be asked further questions. There is no victimization. She was not detained or arrested or harrassed.

The word shooting does have alarming connotations considering what's going on in the world everyday. Honestly I wouldn't blame the immigration officer, he was just doing his duty.
