Amitabh Bachchan and Deepika Padukone’s bittersweet father-daughter relationship in Piku was loved by all. After DP, Katrina Kaif is now all set to play Big B's daughter in Vikas Bahl’s next.
Last year, Vikas helmed Hrithik Roshan starrer Super 30 and is now keen on making a comedy-drama with the said pair. "The film is tentatively titled ‘Deadly’ as the story is centred around a funeral. Katrina loved the basic premise, which essentially traces the protagonist’s journey of self-discovery with humorous undertones, and gave an instant go-ahead to Vikas” revealed a source close to the development and also informed that hers would be a multi-layered character and added: “She is looking to push the envelope and explore new genres in this phase of her career which, in a way, is a journey of self-discovery too.”
The film was expected to go on floors in the coming months, however, owing to the current COVID-19 situation, things are pushed and there is a delay in both, production and casting due to the industry shutdown.
As per the reports, the father-daughter relationship is an integral part of the film and “Vikas and Katrina have discussed the central character of the father with Amitabh Bachchan, who has shown a keen interest in doing the film. However, he is yet to sign on the dotted line” adds the source.
While we wait for Big B’s nod for the project, he will be next seen in Gulabo Sitabo co-starring Ayushmann Khurrana and Chehre alongside Emraan Hashmi. Katrina’s Sooryavanshi also starring Akshay Kumar, Ajay Devgn and Ranveer Singh has been postponed due to the coronavirus pandemic.
