SOTY 2 Review

The film which was ought to be a mass entertainer for this Friday, has failed to impress. With loose ends being prominently highlighted throughout the film, the same monotonous storyline has been manifested for the second installment of the Student of the Year franchise.

Owing to the first part of Student of the Year, there were many expectations from the sequel. From the trailer itself, the movie looked somewhat promising. Tiger Shroff’s infamous action and dance sequences, the debut of two beautiful actresses and a much-loved youtuber, return of Director Punit Malhotra after his last flop Gori Tere Pyaar Mein and not to forget the songs.

But once again the expectations were not met. The special appearances by Will Smith and ex-students Alia Bhatt, Sahil Anand, Manjot Singh will bring a smile on your faces.

SOTY 2 Review

There are a few good things that make the movie worth your time. The songs – The Jawaani Song and Fakira, that features Tiger Shroff andAnanya Panday, will force to groove to the beats of the music.

Ananya clearly stole the show as she played the role of Shreya a bade baap ki neglected beti. On the other hand, Aditya Seal, who performed the role of Manav (Shreya’s elder brother), the stud of St. Teresa who cannot handle a healthy competition and the typical bad boy of the college, was also impressive.

And not to forget Harsh Beniwal, the YouTuber who has entertained the audiences with his quick and witty humor as Pookie (Rohan’sbest-friend), will definitely charm you.

SOTY 2 Review

Talking about the not so good things about the movie, the story is cliché and had many loopholes. Though being a debutant Tara Sutaria could not shine much, her character Mridula aka Mia, was not well written and was shown as a gullible girl, who changed her opinions like the wind.

Tiger Shroff, who plays the role of Rohan Sachdev, may be amazing at dance and action sequences but his moves were repetitive. The Flying Jatt star tried blending dance moves to his fighting sequences, which gets annoying at some point, might I add. Looks like it will take quite a few movies to get Tiger out of his Baaghi funk!

We wonder when Karan Johar would understand that the audiences have evolved with time. We are not the same 90’s crowd who loved to watch brainless action drama’s with a pinch of romance and loads and loads of unwanted songs.
