Aditya Chopra donates mega budget of YRF 50 celebration to COVID aid

Yash Raj Films head honcho Aditya Chopra is relentlessly opening up new avenues to extend a helping hand in the fight against Covid-19.

In a massive decision, Aditya Chopra has cancelled the grand golden jubilee of his production house Yash Raj Films and decided to donate the entire budget for Covid aid. The kitchens of the YRF studios have been opened to provide cooked meals to thousands of frontline workers in Goregaon and also feed people at quarantine centres in Andheri.

In 2020, Yash Raj Films completed 50 glorious years in the industry and Aditya Chopra had marked a humongous budget to celebrate the milestone with a mega event, that would make headlines in the news. However, owing to the current scenario in the nation, he decided to divert the money for helping daily wage workers.

An entertainment portal quoted a veteran trade source as saying: 

“YRF will not be celebrating its 50th year even if things return to normalcy later as Aditya Chopra has decided to divert this entire fund for COVID relief work. He is clear that the funds need to be used on an urgent basis to restart the industry first as it has been hit the hardest because of the virus.

"There was an extensive blueprint of celebrations planned around the world which would have become massive news but all that stands cancelled. Aditya Chopra only wants to concentrate towards helping the industry and the fraternity that has been a support system to YRF for the last 50 years too.”

Previously, the 49 year old producer also launched the ‘Yash Chopra Saathi Initiative’ to provide support to thousands of daily workers in the film industry.
