Actor Nawazuddin Siddiqui has slammed recent big-budget films, claiming they serve only to inspire awe and shock. In a new interview, Nawazuddin stated that these are visual experiences and inquired as to where the true cinema is. He continued by stating that he remains convinced that nothing has changed and that superficial entertainment still trumps filmmaking ability. Additionally, Nawazuddin stated that such big-budget films monopolise the box office, leaving him to wonder if small-budget films will be released in theatres. The actor expressed gratitude toward OTT platforms, stating that they allow him to watch quality films.

In an interview with Bollywood Hungama, Nawazuddin declined to comment on whether the concept of the main character is changing in commercial cinema.

Additionally, he stated that it is difficult for 'good, modest, small budget films' to be released in theatres due to the fact that only large-budget films are released. In reference to such films, he continued, These films dazzle and inspire awe to the point where planes are submerged and fish are made to fly. He enjoys these visual experiences as well, but he questioned where cinema is? When you watch films like CODA, King Richard, and other excellent films on OTT, you feel relieved that such films are being made. He believes that children enjoy these harrowing films.

Meanwhile, Nawazuddin will next be seen in the action thriller Heropanti 2 alongside Tiger Shroff and Tara Sutaria, which is scheduled to release on April 29.
