Actor Mohsin Khan approaches cyber cell for threats asking him to change his name

It is amazing and at times appalling how fan love cross limits when it comes to their favorite actors. Time and again we have seen fan wars for and against their favorite actors which at times crosses limits one can barely imagine. But seldom do we have a case where the love for an actor leads to another actor being involved by the fans for all the wrong reasons.

Actor Mohsin Khan, who is a character artiste and has appeared in shows like Mere Sai and Savdhaan India over the years is currently being harassed by multiple social media users only because he shares his name with actor Mohsin Khan of Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai fame.

That's right. In fact, recently, he received a message on his Instagram account by one of the latter’s fans asking him to change his name and deactivate his social media account. Mohsin reached out to the cyber crime cell in his hometown Lucknow and registered a complaint.

Talking about it with ETimes TV, Khan said, “I received a DM on Tuesday by an unidentified user threatening me of consequences if I didn’t delete my account and changed my name within three days. I immediately went to report the matter at a local police station and was eventually directed to register a complaint at the cyber crime cell. I was asked to block the Instagram ID from which I received the message. I am waiting for them to take strict action against these troublemakers.”

He says that he has been facing this issue ever since stories regarding his work appeared on various platforms. “I am going through unnecessary stress because of my name. I hope that people understand that we are two different individuals. I am an actor and passionate about my craft and I only want to focus on my work.”

It is indeed shameful to say the least but we hope this issue is resolved.
