Film Chhapaak, starring Deepika Padukone and Vikrant Massey, directed by Meghna Gulzar has seen a lot of uproar ever since it's release. Initially it was Deepika's presence at JNU, amidst all the CAA -NRC protests, which had polarized the audience massively, then it was her promotional video for the film, was just starting to get the praise and love it deserved for the performances and heart touching topic, is creating a controversy yet again, but for a different reason.
It was all based on and inspired from the story of Laxmi Agrawal and as her lawyer demanded, she should get her due credit. Laxmi Agarwal's lawyer Arpana Bhat has filed a contempt plea against the makers in Delhi High Court for not crediting her in the movie despite court orders. The credits are seen in the version rolled out in India but not in one which is screening internationally. As reported by Filmfare, she said, “I have filed this petition as the makers have not included the credits in the copy of the film which is being screened internationally.” A lot of speculations are happening as we wait for the movie to resolve the controversies surrounding it.
